What's better than homemade?
May 29th, 2009 by John
As it turns out, nothing. Fresh picked organic strawberries, homemade french vanilla ice cream and homemade chocolate sauce served in a Fiesta bowl.
Go ahead! Click it. You know you want to.
Sadly, this was eaten a month ago. I am currently out of ice cream and chocolate syrup, but the freezer is stocked with strawberries. I don’t know what inspired me to take a picture with my cell phone, but it’s fun to relive it. drool…drool…

Back-to-back posts? And surprisingly the world didn’t end.
Yesterday was a bad day. I went to the dentist for a cleaning and came way with four more appointments. Root canal, crown (2 appointments) and cavity between June 1 and July 14. Add a previously scheduled physical and a mandatory health screening at work in early June and what you have is John Worthy’s salute to the health care industry.

Checking in…

I have a goal to blog more frequently though I find it hard to make the time to do so. With all the other things on my plate…excuse, excuse, excuse… In way of catching up, I’ll make this a multi-topic post.
Part I
To review my chores list, I have completed the new fence and gate. The paint cans are properly disposed along with a great deal of trash and debris that has been cluttering my back yard. Remnants of a section of concrete sidewalk, limbs, hog wire, stone, landscape rocks, odd pieces of lumber and a bit of this and that amounting to three truck loads have been hauled away.
Part II
I was playing my guitar Wednesday night when I noticed my collection contains lots of songs lamenting the passing of time/youth. Here are few lyrics from the great philosophers of our time (Seger, Mellencamp, Springsteen and Adams). See if can put the artist and title with the lyrics.
“Wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then.”
“Life goes on long after the thrill of living is gone”
“They’ll pass you by, Glory Days, in the wink of a young girl’s eye”
“Those were the best days of my life”
These songs are great when I get to feeling nostalgic.
Speaking of Nostalgia: (Love Alfred Hitchcock!)
Part III
I went camping this weekend. There was a council-wide camporee in Anderson with 1000-2000 Boy Scouts in attendance. I volunteered to run one of the events and had a great time doing so with Dylan (we couldn’t have done it without you!). We even managed to make the Greenville News and Anderson paper. We got wet and I got sore doing some heavy lifting but had a great time.

Reunion 2008
Mar 21st, 2009 by John
It has been nearly a month since the 2008 staff reunion. I still can’t get it out of my mind and I’m looking forward to the next one in 2010. Unfortunately, we forgot to get a picture of the entire group. But later that evening, those of us who were left gathered in front of the trading post for a photo. What a great group of guys!
Ralph set his camera on a picnic table and got this shot. Candid times looked more like this.
And that’s how we spent the whole weekend.
They're at it again

A friend of mine and her husband are hiking the Allegheny Trail. They’ve already through-hiked the AT and the PCT. If you care to follow their adventures, you can do so here: http://sanddhike.blogspot.com/
If you follow the link, you can see Dwight shedding a few ounces by trimming the margins off his trail map.
Good luck guys. I wish I were going along.
Site update

I changed my blog theme and my header picture. It was time for something new. The header picture is from the chapel atop Glassy Mountain. I took this picture from inside the chapel. The front wall is glass so you can see the valley below. Here are some more shots to give you an idea of what a great setting it is.
